Main Melodic Rock News On 14/04/2014

It is with great regret that MelodicRockFest must break the news that Faith Circus will not be able to join the party in Chicago this October. Band founder Marc Ferrano contacted me last week to offer his sincere apologies, stating that personal circumstances beyond his control would prevent the band from playing the event.
As disappointing as this is, Faith Circus are a terrific outfit and I hope we can continue to spread the word about their great album “Turn Up The Band”.

Not wishing to leave a hole in the lineup, I can immediately announce that joining us at the HOME Bar October 3 will be US hard rockers Madman’s Lullaby! The guys really wanted to be a part of the show from the get go, so I’m happy to see that a bad situation can be turned into a positive.

As far as everything else MelodicRockFest 4 goes – full steam ahead folks! Tickets are going to press shortly and all VIP pass holders will be notified shortly with a couple of necessary details to be asked.
The rest of the bands lined up are in full swing to be ready to tear apart Chicago in less than 6 months’ time!!
Full details and tickets at: www.melodicrockfest.comLIMITED VIP LEFT!

COMING SHORTLY – We going to do another MelodicRockFest raffle fly someone from anywhere in the world to MRF4 this October!

Good news….The new site is done….structurally and functionally…
3 years and 4 programmers later….we’re almost home. The site as it will be would not be possible if not for everyone that’s put work into it, there are parts from each programmer under the hood and I couldn’t be happier with the result. There is a LOT of changes to the way things have been done for the last decade and some things will take getting used to. But it’s no longer a simple HTML site.. This thing is a living beast that categorizes everything and is fully social media interactive….there’s options for Facebook users as well as stand-alone log-ins for those that want to avoid FB!

So all I need to do now is add as much content as I can over the next few weeks before inviting those that originally donated to the site to come in and take it for test drive. Can’t wait for you all to see it and unveil this thing and get ahead of the game in brining you up to the minute news multiple times per day, not just in one update!

It’s not every day that never-before-seen Angel footage from the 1970s surfaces. Even more rare, this live film contains the only publicly-available moving images of the infamous Angel introduction which featured all five band members “magically” appearing in their own cubicle box. This is the first time in 36 years; any footage has been seen of Angel’s now legendary illusions. The Super 8mm film, which includes the original concert audio, was frame by frame restored and is viewable in it’s native aspect ratio in 720p here: (
It was recorded on May 10, 1978 during a stop on the band’s White Hot tour in Fresno, California which also featured The Godz. Along with label mates Kiss, Angel were signed to Casablanca Records during their 1975-’80 peak years. Angel’s live introduction’s was previously written about in great detail in the 2009 book, And Party Every Day: The Inside Story Of Casablanca Records by Label VP Larry Harris (with Curt Gooch and Jeff Suhs) and a feature-length movie, directed by Spike Lee called Spinning Gold begins production this fall. It stars Justin Timberlake as Casablanca Records President Neil Bogart. The film is slated to be released in 2015.

You’ll also hear two tracks from their self-titled debut album. Dug then looks at the new reissue of the first Kings X album, “Out Of The Silent Planet”, out now on Rock Candy Records ( ), giving an insight into the development of the band’s trademark sound, how they secured a record deal, and the recording of and reaction to the album.

In part two, Kings X guitarist Ty Tabor also looks back at “Out Of The Silent Planet”, and gives further insight into the origins of the sound of the band, their early years, the recording of the debut album, and the reaction to it from fans and critics.
