Hornet To Enter The Studio This Summer To Record EP

Hornet are set to enter the studio this summer to record a brand new EP and are offering fans the chance to pre-order it exclusively through PledgeMusic at www.pledgemusic.com/projects/hornet. Every digital EP also includes a ticket to an intimate ‘Pledge-only’ launch show at a secret location in London later this year.

PledgeMusic is an online direct-to-fan music platform. The platform has attracted interest from labels and stars such as Slash, Bring Me The Horizon, Buzzcocks and many more by involving fans in the making of albums. This isn’t the first time Hornet have used PledgeMusic, as the band ran a successful campaign last year and released their debut album ‘Skies Are Falling’.

Frontman Joe Thompson explains, “We have a close relationship with our fans and like the fact that they can be involved in the making of the record with us and not just listen to it. Times have changed, I think it’s an important thing nowadays as people like to follow their favourite bands online and like to have a closer relationship with the band and the music.”

Hornet are giving fans access to an exclusive blog, where they will talk about the record, show them videos, photos, demos and more as they write, rehearse and record the songs. As a bonus, there will be prizes given away to one or more lucky fans for every 20% of the band’s target hit such as VIP tickets to their headline show at The Barfly, Camden on May 29th, signed merchandise and more. The sooner you pre-order, the more chances you have to win.

“The ‘Pledge-only’ EP launch show is unlike any show we’ve done before as our fans will decide the set list, hear the new songs played live for the very first time, get a signed setlist from the night and gain early entry to the venue and receive their photo with us. I think it’s going to be something really special,” says Thompsn.

Hornet are also offering exciting one-off extras only available through PledgeMusic such as a studio experience, the chance to have your name mentioned in a song and tickets to a private acoustic show. You can pre-order the EP and more from www.pledgemusic.com/projects/hornet now.

3D In Your Face Get “In Your Face” In New Music Video

3D In Your Face have released the second single and new video for the track “In Your Face” off of their latest album ‘Midnight Devils’.

‘Midnight Devils’ was released in December of last year and can be purchased at www.3dinyourface.com. Sleaze Roxx said the album was “a genuine nostalgic trip down memory lane. From the guitar sound to the drums, to the bass, vocals, and even the back-up vocals, this band delivers. There is no reason why they couldn’t have been on a bill back in the ’80s along with Ratt, L.A. Guns, and Dokken — in fact, the guitar sound is reminiscent of George Lynch’s on the Back For The Attack album.”

3D In Your Face started as an idea that turned into thirteen years of constant touring, writing, and recording. Starting back in 1999 in Omaha, Nebraska, 3D In Your face has carved out a name for themselves all across the midwest United States as an over the top rock ‘n’ roll spectacle that brings you back to the glory days of ’80s hair metal.

Having released three independent albums, 3D In Your Face — Alan “Hot Rod” King (vocals), Chris “Sniper” Hineline (guitar), Sam “Spade” Morris (bass), and Jeremy “Playboy” Deans (drums) — set out to capture the excitement and electricity of their live shows on the upcoming ‘Midnight Devils’, an album that features 12 songs of pure and honest rock ‘n’ roll with that ’80s charm and swagger.

New American Dog Album Features Cover Art By Frank Frazetta

New American Dog Album Features Cover Art By Frank FrazettaThe artwork for American Dog’s upcoming seventh studio album ‘Neanderthal’ will be a painting by the late, great fantasy and science fiction artist, Frank Frazetta. The painting, also called Neanderthal, was created in 1967 and first appeared that summer on the cover of the infamous horror-comic magazine, Creepy — Issue #15.

Other notable recording artists who have used Frazetta’s paintings as cover art for their albums include Herman’s Hermits, Molly Hatchet, Nazareth, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Wolfmother.

Neanderthal, the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Poison Smile’, is tentatively scheduled for release in mid to late June.

The band recently released a now sold-out limited edition four song single containing the songs “Who’s She Killing” and “We Ain’t Not Gonna Get Drunk Tonight”. “The CD (single) contains three different versions of the single “Who’s She Killing Now” (different edits for radio play) with a B-Side of “We Ain’t Gonna Not Get Drunk Tonight” and it comes with a bottle opener so you can play along at home,” said American Dog frontman Michael Hannon.

American Dog was formed in 1999 in Columbus, Ohio, and features former Salty Dog and Dangerous Toys bassist Michael Hannon on vocals and electric bass, Steve Theado on guitars, Michael Harris on drums and newest member Vinnie Salvatore (guitars, formerly of The Godz).

The band’s sound is a very coarse high energy hard rock with a blues base which is often compared to ’70s era Ted Nugent with the power and grit of Motorhead. Although the band appeals to a wide demographic, American Dog is especially popular with the biker set. They’ve played some of the biggest biker events in the world, including Sturgis and many Easyrider events in the States, the Hamburg Harley Days Event in Germany, and the Rock and Blues Custom Show in England. They are also popular in the ‘rust-belt’ where they play to enthusiastic crowds in such cities as Columbus, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Chicago, Indianapolis, and Louisville. They have shared the stage with Ted Nugent, David Allan Coe, UFO, Rose Tattoo, Billy Idol, Nazareth, Ratt, Ace Frehley, .38 Special and Molly Hatchet.

American Dog have numerous European tours under their belts and have enjoyed tremendous success in Germany, France, Holland, England, Switzerland, Spain and Belgium. With over 35,000 CDs sold and countless gigs played the American Dog attack shows no signs of slowing.

Dynamite Unleash “It’s A Long Way Home” Video

Dynamite have released a video for the song “It’s A Long Way Home”, from their upcoming album ‘Blackout Station’ — due for release of May 24th through High Roller Records.

Regarding the new album, the follow-up to their 2013 debut ‘Lock N Load’, Dynamite frontman Mattis Karlsson told Sleaze Roxx, “We are very happy with the first album but this one is so much better, both in the sound of the songs and we improved very much as writers. Me and Sebastian (Hed-Plikas, guitarist) write all the songs, riffs and melodies so we have been much better at writing songs over the year — much better songs.”

Following the release of the new album ‘Blackout Station’, Dynamite will open this year’s Muskelrock on May 28th. This will be a combined release party and warm-up party for Muskelrock, the new album and merchandise will be on sale during the evening.

“We come from a small town where there’s not a lot to do, so we have had a lot of time to play rock ‘n’ roll and write songs, I guess…,” says guitarist Sebastian Hed-Plikas. “The opportunities you have here to learn an instrument make it easier of course.”

For a change, none of the current Dynamite members has a side project going on. Karlsson (vocals, guitar), Hed-Plikas (guitar), Adam Butler (bass) and Jonas Hagstrom (drums) originally formed in 2012, recording their debut album a year later. Sebastian has a good story to tell about the early days of his band, “We have been aired on Swedish national radio and made headlines in the biggest newspapers in Sweden with the music video for the song ‘Lock ‘N’ Load’ and the story behind the video when we got chased by the police for staging a bank robbery. When we released our debut album we were, and still are, satisfied with that album. Since than our songwriting has improved and we are a better band today than we were a year ago. And the opportunity to record in a really good studio with a great producer was a great experience.”

For ‘Blackout Station’ Dynamite signed a contract with High Roller Records. “We just thought that the name Dynamite explained what we are in a perfect way — powerful, explosive rock ‘n’ roll from Sweden,” explains Sebastian about the name of the band.

Without revealing a secret it’s fair to say that the mighty AC/DC must be one of the main influences for songs like “Talk Is Cheap”, the sleazy “Damn You Women”, or the grimy “Grind For A Dime”. “Hail Rock ‘N’ Roll” sums it up best. “We all love AC/DC and they have had a big impact on us,” reveals Sebastian. “They have a certain feeling and groove that I love and carry with me when I write songs. And it’s that feeling we’re after, rather than trying to re-create their sound and songs. I have also seen Airbourne and ’77 a couple of times in Sweden and they are both great bands as well.”

So are Dynamite a prototypical Swedish rock/metal band at all? Is it hard for them to get into the AC/DC groove? “You just have to mix the Death Metal groove with ABBA and then you’ve got it,” laughs Sebastian.

Accept Change The Release Date Of ‘Blind Rage’

Accept Change The Release Date Of 'Blind Rage'In the history of heavy metal not many bands can claim to be able to celebrate their breakthrough twice. Accept managed this four years ago with their reunion record ‘Blood Of The Nations’ — returning with a vengeance! Now Accept open the next chapter in their book of heavy metal, with the upcoming studio record ‘Blind Rage’ — which will be out on August 15th.

‘Blind Rage’, just like its two predecessors with new vocalist Mark Tornillo, has been produced, mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap. “The cover artwork done by Daniel Goldsworthy shows the beast coming over us — in blind rage — all over the planet. Wherever we go, whenever you turn on the TV, there is blind rage in the works — either natural catastrophes or man-made madness,” continued Hoffmann.

There will also be a limited edition digipak version of ‘Blind Rage’ that includes either a bonus DVD or BluRay disc and features a complete Accept live show recorded in Chile 2013 during the ‘Stalingrad’ tour. Upfront will be the single release of the opening track “Stampede”, which will be out on July 11th digitally and on a limited vinyl edition. The band also did a video clip for “Stampede”, which will be ready by the end of June.

Hardly any other band has influenced the heavy metal genre as much as German legends Accept. Classics albums such as ‘Restless And Wild’ (1982), ‘Balls To The Wall’ (1983) and ‘Metal Heart’ (1985), have inspired generations of new bands, and this has continued since their reunion in 2009. Both ‘Blood Of The Nations’ (2010) and ‘Stalingrad’ (2012) entered the charts globally and were voted among the best albums of their respective years by Sleaze Roxx readers, and underline the premiere league status Accept still have today.

‘Blind Rage’ track listing:
01. Stampede
02. Dying Breed
03. Dark Side Of My Heart
04. Fall Of The Empire
05. Trail Of Tears
06. Wanna Be Free

Judas Priest Announce Lead-Off Single From Upcoming Album

Judas Priest have set “March Of The Damned” as the lead-off single from their forthcoming studio album ‘Redeemer Of Souls’.

For the past few weeks, metalheads worldwide have undoubtedly been enjoying the “sneak peak” title track from Judas Priest’s forthcoming ‘Redeemer Of Souls’ album. And on Monday, May 19th, the official lead-off single from the album, “March Of The Damned,” will be released to rock and metal radio, and will be available for purchase via all digital sales providers. Additionally, on the same day, preorders for the full album will be made available through iTunes.

As the band themselves said about “March Of The Damned”, “Our passion for heavy metal has never diminished, and this track sounds off with real conviction!”

‘Redeemer Of Souls’ will be made available from Epic Records on Tuesday, July 15th as both a standard version and a deluxe edition with five bonus tracks. When asked what fans can expect from Judas Priest’s 17th album overall, guitarist Glenn Tipton replied, “Sometimes in the past we may have come under fire for being too adventurous musically — so we have listened!! From start to finish ‘Redeemer Of Souls’ is 13 songs of pure classic Priest metal!!”

Comprised of Rob Halford (vocals), Glenn Tipton (guitar), Richie Faulkner (guitar), Ian Hill (bass), and Scott Travis (drums), Judas Priest is responsible for some of heavy metal’s all-time classic songs (“Living After Midnight”, “Breaking The Law”, “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming”, etc.) and albums (‘British Steel’, ‘Screaming For Vengeance’, ‘Painkiller’, etc.)

And soon, fans will discover that Judas Priest has assembled another metal classic, with the “March Of The Damned” single and ‘Redeemer Of Souls’ full-length.

Ace Frehley Enlists KISS ‘Destroyer’ Artist For Solo Album Artwork

Ace Frehley Enlists KISS 'Destroyer' Artist For Solo Album ArtworkAce Frehley has tapped long time friend and artist Ken Kelly to create the album cover for his upcoming solo album ‘Space Invader’, due out July 8th through E1 Music.

Kelly, who created the iconic cover art for two of KISS’s best selling LPS, ‘Destroyer’ (1976) and ‘Love Gun’ (1977), says, “It was very exciting when I was approached with the idea of doing an album cover for Ace. I had spoken to Ace on a few occasions about the possibility, so I was delighted when it actually happened.”

Ace Frehley himself comments, “I’ve been talking with Ken Kelly since 2007 about painting a CD cover for me and it has finally happened! I couldn’t be more excited about the new Space Invader cover and the music behind it is also going to rock your world!”

With nearly 35 years between projects, KISS fans will surely be excited about this long-time duo working together again. Kelly concludes, “I am very pleased with the results and proud to play a part of Ace’s continuing successful career!”

‘Space Invader’ will contain at least nine original songs and a cover of the Steve Miller Band’s “The Joker.” Frehley has said that his fans can expect a sound similar to his 1978 solo album, which contained the hit “New York Groove.” Frehley’s previous solo album, ‘Anomaly’, was released in 2009. The record reached #27 on the Billboard charts and was named one of the best albums that year by Sleaze Roxx readers.

“I’m really excited about this record, because everybody that’s heard the tracks just says they think some of the tracks are even better than Anomaly, and even showing another side of me,” Frehley told Rolling Stone earlier this year. “There’s two songs I’m going to re-track, but I’m doing mostly overdubs. Most of the hard work is over.”

Frehley also said that the album would feature collaborations with his girlfriend Rachael Gordon and told Rolling Stone that an album of covers and remakes would follow ‘Space Invader’. “That one will be a real treat for the fans, too,” Frehley said. “I want to get some celebrity guests to play on it, some of the covers and stuff, get Slash, Mike McCready, my buddy from Pearl Jam. You know. The list is endless.” Then, with a laugh, he added, “I might even get Gene Simmons to play bass on a track.”

Motley Crue Hope To Have New Single Ready For Farewell Tour

Ace Frehley Enlists KISS 'Destroyer' Artist For Solo Album ArtworkMotley Crue is saying a well-publicized farewell to the road starting this summer, but it won’t be coming empty handed.

Tommy Lee tells Billboard that he’s “just finished the drums” for “All Bad Things Must End”, a new track the Crue hopes to have out by the time the farewell tour with Alice Cooper kicks off July 2nd in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and which he says will be attached to a new greatest hits album that will accompany the trek.

“We’re just mixing (the song) and getting it together,” Lee reports. “It’s pretty heavy, but it’s really melodic. It’s definitely about this time right now with the band and what the feeling is and kind of all that wrapped into a song. I hate to say it’s like a goodbye, but it definitely references our time here.”

Meanwhile, the quartet is getting its show together for the tour. “There’s a whole new production being built that’s pretty fucking insane,” Lee says. As for the setlist, he adds that the Crue is talking about two-hour sets “so we can play all the hits and then hopefully dig into some deep stuff, since this is the last chance to play them.”

The group is also digging into “The Dirt”, the long awaited film adaptation of its vivid 2001 band biography. Lee says he and bassist Nikki Sixx recently sat down with director Jeff Tremaine for a read-through of the script that he calls “probably the most fucking insanely surrealistic experience I’ve ever sat through — probably two hours and change of literally watching people act and play through this two-hour plus movie of 30 years of your life. I was just like, ‘What the fuck?! That’s insane! This movie is insane!’ Even just the way the movie starts, you’re like, ‘How the hell are we gonna rate this thing? Triple R?'”

Lee says casting is slated for late July, most likely with unknown actors playing the band members who will subsequently join the Crue on tour for a bit of boot camp. “I can just imagine some 25-year-old actor getting the part and being sent on the road to hang out and study us,” Lee says with a laugh. “Wow, what a trip! They’re gonna definitely come back a different animal.”

Lee, meanwhile, has tried on a different musical skin lately, playing drums for the next Smashing Pumpkins album. He’s recorded demos with Billy Corgan in Los Angeles and expects to be back in the studio during the next few weeks to record the finished songs. “I think he has probably the best record he’s ever written,” Lee says. “These are like epic, goose-bump songs. It sounds like the first couple of Smashing Pumpkins records. I was fucking blown away.”

Lee is also starting to chart his own post-Crue career. While several potential projects are on the runway, he says that “I have one thing in particular I’ve really got my heart set on. I can’t really talk about it too much, but I’ve been writing music for it, and I’ve got a hard drive full of some crazy shit that I’ve been working on that the music scene definitely needs right now. There’s nothing like it. It’s definitely some new music, and there’ll be a new band that’s gonna blow some minds.”
