Laney’s Legion Ready For Unleashing

The Godfather of Swedish Glam and Sleaze Chris Laney’s band Laney’s Legion has released a digital single “Taste Of Your Tongue” on iTunes, Spotify and Amazon. The first single of the album is a killer air guitar fist in the air, sexy track and the artwork to match it! The “Self Titled” full length CD will be released April 22nd, 2014 worldwide. Laney’s Legion features Chris Laney (Zan Clan, Randy Piper’s Animal), Rob Marcello (Danger Danger), Mats Vassfjord (Grand Design, Scaar) and Patrik Jansson (Helsingland Underground).

How can you be truly unique in music today? Well, it’s hard. Many bands focus too much on image, attitude or whatever and forget about the music. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is the song: The Song Is King! Laney’s Legion deliver a debut album full of surprises. Chris Laney has made a name for himself in the hard rock world writing, producing, mixing and winning Grammy awards with bands like Candlemass, Dynazty, Europe and H.E.A.T. After two successful and critically acclaimed solo albums “Pure” (2009) and “Only Come Out At Night” (2010) he’s now back with a new album.
But instead of returning with a third solo album, the forthcoming full length feature will be the debut album for his new band: Laney’s Legion. “I really missed the feeling of having a real band. I wanted to go back to the basics”, says Chris. Laney is of course still handling lead vocals and rhythm guitars. Joining him is drummer Patrik Jansson (Hellsingland Underground) and bass player Mats Vassfjord (Grand Design, Scaar). They are both sought-after session players in the Swedish music circuit, and toured with Laney on his last tours. Last but least, the brand new quartet is complete with the highly acclaimed guitar virtuoso Rob Marcello (Danger Danger). This time, it’s all about the music: “My solo albums were pretty much recorded and written in a rush. This time I didn’t wanna stress anything. This time I only wanted the best songs possible”.
In order to achieve this, he brought in longtime partner Anders Ringman to help out with writing and producing. The multi platinum songwriting duo, aka Platform, has a 15 year collaboration history featuring work with Crashdпet, Crucified Barbara, Steevi Jaimz and others. “It was the natural choice. We work so well together”, Chris says. And with contributions from everybody in the band, Laney’s Legion have produced an album containing nothing but solid, melodic sing-along tunes. “We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel here. What it all come downs to is the music. And there are surprises. We’re not just doing the normal hard glam rock our fans might expect, we rock, we pop and no one can stop us now!”

New Gotthard Video Released Today

Gotthard news: Only a little more than four weeks and it will finally be here: The big “Bang!” we’re all waiting for. Great that there’s the strong first single to tide us over, because “Feel What I Feel” definitely whets the appetite for more. Even more so watching the video, which officially premieres today, starring former „Miss Switzerland“ Anita Buri in the super-hot leading role. Because let’s face it – what could possibly be better than: awesome track + beautiful woman = perfect.

“Feel What I Feel”: Extraterrestrial Clip. During the shoot of “Feel What I Feel” it got quite warm in the “Pfalzkeller” of St. Gallen monastery and that wasn’t only caused by the spotlights … Apart from the elaborately filmed scenes of the band’s performance, the amazing Anita Buri raised the temperature in a tasteful, sexy alien costume, seducing our friend Nic good and proper. All very professional-like, of course. Find out how the story ends in the brand-new clip:

It came directly from the studio and touched down in the single charts easily. Now, “Feel What I Feel” sets off to look at the airplay charts from the very top as well. No wonder, because the leading track from “Bang!” surges ahead with a hymnal hook and a fantastic chorus, blazing the trail for the new Gotthard album, which will be released on April 4, 2014 and will probably cause quite a chart quake once again.
In ten days, the “Swiss Music Awards” will take place in the almost sold-out Zurich Hallenstadion. Obviously, Gotthard will be there on March 7 to perform the TV world premiere of “Feel What I Feel”: “The SMAs will take place at the Hallenstadion for the first time. That’s exactly the place, where such an event belongs and we are very much looking forward to our performance premiering our new song “Feel What I Feel”,” confirms Marc. And Freddy adds: “The Hallenstadion always is very special. After our sold-out show in 2005, we’re glad to be able to play in this venue again.” Those without tickets will still be able to see the show: the event will be aired live at 8:10 pm on SRF Zwei, Joiz, and Rouge TV.

Lita Ford, Leslie West + Foreigner’s Mick Jones Headline ‘That Metal Show’ Episode

That Metal Show Mick Jones Leslie West Lita Ford
That Metal Show

That Metal Show‘ will lean a little more on the classic rock side this week as Foreigner‘s Mick Jones and Mountain guitar great Leslie West will join Eddie Trunk, Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine for interviews. Meanwhile, Lita Ford will lay down some blistering licks as the special music guest.

Jones, who has been the main songwriter and is a founding member of Foreigner, will reflect on the band’s career and all of their hard rocking hits they’ve generated over the years. West, meanwhile, becomes the first Woodstock alum to grace the ‘That Metal Show’ stage. The man who gave us ‘Mississippi Queen’ will share some of his stories, and both he and Jones will offer their candid answers to the panel’s “Put It on the Table” questions.

As for Ford, she will take on the instrumental spot often given to some of rock and metal’s finest players, providing the audience with some heaviness leading in and out of commercial breaks. Ford’s history with the show dates back to the beginning as she was the first-ever guest on ‘That Metal Show.’

This week’s ‘That Metal Show’ will also have a check-in with guitarist Marty Friedman as part of the “Metal Modem” segment, and, as usual, the audience attempts to “Stump the Trunk” with a new round of trivia questions.

Be sure to tune in for the next edition of ‘That Metal Show,’ airing this Saturday, March 1 at 11PM ET/PT on VH1 Classic.

Les-Fest Announce The New Location

wiston lodge

Award winning festival Les-Fest, Scotland’s only Rock and Metal festival), were forced to move venues earlier this year after the original venue became unavailable. The organisers are very pleased to announce the new venue for the 2014 as Wiston Lodge near Lanark.

Organiser Dave Ritchie commented: “Partly through circumstances and more through necessity we found it desirable to move venues for 2014. We believe we have found a magnificent place within the grounds of Wiston Lodge, Lanark”

Wiston Lodge itself is a former Victorian Hunting Lodge built in the 1850s. Located near Lanark, it’s less than an hour from Glasgow, Edinburgh or Carlisle and only 10 minutes from the M74, motorway it is the ideal location and easily accessible by car and public transport.

Dave continues, “With the lodge and the grounds we have room for future expansion and we can offer a far greater festival experience, with improved camping, Tipi camping, wooden cabins and a boating lake amongst other things. However we also want people to be aware of their location and we know from previous festivals that everyone will respect the surroundings and buy into the philosophy of the new venue.”

wiston lodge
“As a registered charity, Wiston Lodge is a place where guests are able to develop personal, social and work skills. A world where people have the opportunities and support they need to grow positive, sustainable futures. Programmes are particularly tailored to children and young people, vulnerable adults, and to the staff of the organisations that support them”

“The staff at Wiston work hard to provide everyone with a friendly welcome and a safe, comfortable stay. This sits really well with the ethos of Les-Fest to support local needs, to build good community relationships and particularly now with our support for the Teenage Cancer Trust, to support youth based charities. ”

Winger To Release Highly-Anticipated Sixth Studio Album Better Days Comin’ In April

One of the most misunderstood Hard Rock bands to come out of the 80’s is returning with their first new album in 5 years. Winger is releasing Better Days Comin’ on April 18 in Europe and April 22 in North America via Frontiers Records. The band has always been known for their incredible musicianship and the trend continues on Better Days Comin’.

“On Better Days Comin’ we drew from our past to elaborate on our future. The band is stronger than ever and very excited about the music on this record,” explains front man Kip Winger“We feel this album exemplifies the true sound of the band in every way.”
From the opening riff of album opener “Midnight Driver of a Love Machine” to the final outro lick of “Out Of This World,” it is clear Winger is back and better than ever. Hard rocking songs like “Queen Babylon,” progressive rock movements like “Tin Soldier,” and touching ballads like “Ever Wonder” show the band’s diversity while always centering on great songs. The debut single from Better Days Comin’ is the adrenaline fueled rocker “Rat Race” that showcases some of the band’s best work of their 25 year career.

The track listing for Better Days Comin’ is: 1) Midnight Driver of a Love Machine 2) Queen Babylon 3) Rat Race 4) Better Days Comin’ 5) Tin Soldier 6) Ever Wonder 7) So Long China 8) Storm In Me 9) Be Who You Are, Now 10) Another Beautiful Day (Deluxe Edition Bonus Track) 11) Out Of This World.

Winger formed in the late 1980’s and soared to immediate success with their 1988 self-titled release. The album spawned the hit singles “Seventeen” and “Headed For A Heartbreak” and achieved platinum sales status. Winger also stayed on the Billboard Top 200 chart for over 60 weeks where it peaked at #21. Their next album, In The Heart Of The Young, also achieved platinum status behind the singles “Can’t Get Enuff” and “Miles Away.” The change in musical climate of the mid-90’s, compounded with unprovoked ridicule on MTV’s popular Beavis and Butthead, led the band to go on hiatus in 1994. In 2001, the band reunited and have not looked back since. Winger has made a name for themselves with relentless touring, while winning back fans and critics alike because of their exceptional musicianship, Kip Winger’s powerful vocals and the band’s incredible songwriting.
Winger: Kip Winger – bass guitar, vocals; Reb Beach – guitars; Rod Morgenstein – drums; John Roth – guitars.
